is not a victory. it’s not a win. it’s not sexy, and it’s not savvy. the ad machines that have trained us to worship low prices are in the service of a system that makes billionaires out of the owners and slaves out of the makers. it’s time to stop rewarding ourselves for ‘scoring a steal’ on something and instead make solid purchases for things that we need and that we can feel good about. fuck a discount, fuck slave labor. we can bless our material culture and say fuck you to surface-level materialism at the same time. have you ever paid full money for something you really wanted from someone you really respected and wanted to support? it feels GREAT. i hear so many people that say ‘but I have to shop at <insert shitty foreign-made brand> because i’m so broke.’ oh yeah? as broke as the ppl who made the product? i’d bet not! if you are really that broke hit up a thrift store or a clothing swap.
